Parents/Guardians, Welcome back! I hope you all had a fabulous summer break and were able to get out and spend some time on the tmxwulaxw (land). For those who are new to Black Mountain Elementary my name is Ainzley Wikenheiser, my traditional name is tachaeko. I am a proud member of the Tahltan First Nations. Tahltan territory is in Northern BC, and includes the sacred waters of the Stikine, Nass, Skeena Rivers and Telegraph Creek. Before being an advocate, I was a Certified Education Assistant for one year, but switched over to the Indigenous Education Department as my passion lies with my people. This is my 6th year as an Indigenous Student Advocate, and I am very lucky to have spent all 6 years here at Black Mountain Elementary. I consider myself a forever learner, I am in my third year Bachelor program at University of Victoria. I love reading and watching documentaries. I love my rescue pitbull , Bella, a strong cup of coffee, a brisk fall day, and laughing with my loved ones. Every year the Central Okanagan School District has a theme. Last year was Caring Communities, this year is "Together, We Inspire Wonder". Everyday I am inspired by the strength, beauty, and resiliency of our people. That inspiration makes me wonder about the future. The students in this building are our future doctors, tradesmen, policemen, teachers, lawyers…. Our changemakers, and that makes me EXCITED and HOPEFUL! My goal for everyone is to have a successful year. Success and the support I offer will look different for everyone, but regardless of what your definition is - I am here to walk alongside you on this journey. I am here at Black Mountain Elementary Monday – Friday, 8am – 3pm but may be offsite for other commitment. My email is [email protected] and my phone number is listed below. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need any support Meduh (thank you), Ainzley Wikenheiser |
